PIPA welcomes Senator Takahiro ANNO: a visit focusing on the applications of artificial intelligence and digital technology

As part of the Promising Thinkers' Invitation Program (PIPA), Japanese Senator Takahiro ANNO, a member of the House of Counselors in Japan and founder of the Team Mirai party, was welcomed in France from September 7 to 11 for a segment devoted to the use of new technologies and their impact on society.
His stay allowed him to explore several issues at the heart of current transformations: the development of artificial intelligence; the modernization of public action; and the use of technologies in the service of children’s education.
In the Senate, Mr. ANNO was received by the president of the prospective delegation. The exchanges focused in particular on the uses of AI in public services and on issues related to personal data protection, thus making it possible to compare French and Japanese perspectives on these topics.
These different steps allowed him to discuss French approaches in the digital transformation of administration and the use of new technologies in the conduct of public policies.
The program also opened on the innovation and startup ecosystem at Station F, where Mr. ANNO met with the president of the startup Heralbony, a Japanese company based in Paris. This meeting allowed us to discuss the journey of this startup and its development in France and Europe.
More broadly, this program has helped to foster the Franco-Japanese dialogue. The discussions showed significant convergences between France and Japan on these different themes.
